Yvng $egs is a young artist from Aberdare and is hard working and determined to prove himself in the Welsh scene. Keep an eye out for this future star. He has released his latest music video called 'No Love'. Check it out here:

We had a chance to ask Yvng $segs a few questions. Here's how it went:

Where was the Music Video filmed and who produced the Music Video?

The music video for 'No love' was recorded in the valleys amongst the mountains & roads around Aberdare, filmed by James Reed, a friend of Yvng$egs.

Where was the audio recorded for this song and who produced the audio for the track?

This track was recorded at my home studio the same as all of my previous tracks.

How did your journey with music start?

My journey with music started when I was around 16 years old when things started to change a lot in my life. Parents got divorced & heaven gained some angels, music was the easiest way for me to express my emotions through listening to music and making my own.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

If I could open a show for any artist at this current time I'd have to chose Central Cee as his shows are always turnt up & full of energy.

What celebrity would you rate as a perfect 10?

A 10/10 artist for me is someone like Jay Z. In my opinion he’s gotta be one of the most lyrical in the game if not the greatest lyricist, with tracks that range from many emotions & vibes. Hits on hits, you could learn a lot from Jay Z.

What is your favourite song and why?

I can't choose 1 song to be my favourite as it ALWAYS changes! But at the moment is has to be (Lil Durk & Lil Baby - Finesse out the gang way) because of the way they both just go off on the catchy/simple beat, Gotta get that shit on full blast & just vibeee!

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

The music I create ranges from different types of rap including drill, melodic, trap & sometimes i add a bit of singing in to the mix!

What is your creative process like?

My creative process always starts with the beat, without the beat I wouldn't have an idea of what type of vibe the track is gonna set. Once i've found a beat (Sometimes gets sent beats) i get straight to putting my headphones on, zone out & start writing, I try my best to get a song done each time i sit down to start one.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

The person I’d like to collab with the most has to be Lil Skies, Ive been a follower of his music for a long long time! I feel like our styles would go sick if we were to work on something in the future.

What music are your listening to lately?

Lately I’m listening to a lot of 'Token' & 'Lil Skies', 2 American artists that rap completely different, one more melodic & one more lyrical. These are my 2 most favourite artists as I’ve learnt so much from them, I also love switching the music I make from lyrical to more with the vibe.

What inspires you most?

The thing that inspires me the most is my music. I inspire myself to make these tracks, once you learn to inspire yourself, there's nothing stopping you.

What's your favourite place to eat?

My favourite place to eat is Pizza Hut hands down! Cant go wrong with pizza.

What are your favourite movies and why?

My favourite movie has to be Spiderman, always has been since i was a kid. I also used to enjoy all of the Starwars, Series wise, i gotta go with Prison Break.

How has the pandemic affected you?

The pandemic has affected my mental health, I wouldn't say a lot, I've always managed to bounce back, but it was getting tiring, thank god lockdown ended & i was able to perform for the first time.

What do you think of the pandemic?

The pandemic was a nightmare, cancelling everything & putting everyone down. Was gutted i couldn't be out with the boys having big smokes, life was on a standstill really, but gave me a lot of time to work on music.

What’s next for you in 2022?

In 2022 I'm prepared to excel in my music career, obtain more recognition & really push myself with everything I do. I hope to meet more big names in the Welsh rap scene & to continue learning daily.
