Carson is a rapper from Newport, South Wales who boasts catchy hooks and strong lyricism in everything he puts out there. If you want a taster before we get started, then check out ‘I Know’ below.
We had the chance to ask Carson some questions. Here’s how it went:
What is the favourite gig/event you’ve performed at so far?
My favourite gig was when I supported Sav NDO in Coco’s Bar, Newport on the CBT (Can’t Be Tamed) Frostbite event on the 21st of December 2024.
Tell us about your set at this gig.
I performed three songs at the Frostbite event. I performed my three originals; I Know, Cash and Backstreets.

How did you feel before, during and after the gig?
Overall, I felt great before the set. I was a tad nervous but overcame it quickly as soon as I began performing. It was amazing to be performing alongside someone like Sav NDO as he’s a sick artist and I listen to him a lot.
Who came to see you perform?
My family and a group of my friends, they all had a great time at the Frostbite event.

What sparked your love for music?
Back in the day, seeing all the local rappers in Newport was inspiring. Plus, growing up on Newport All Stars and BODR was a big push in the right direction.
Who are your biggest musical influences/inspirations?
I’d have to say I definitely take a lot of inspiration from Sav NDO but also M Huncho. Also some of the Newport based rappers such as Murkage and Fernquest.

What project(s) you currently working on?
I’m currently working on an EP that I’ve been keeping on the down low. It’s a blend of the trap wave and UK rap genres. It’s going to be titled ‘Too late to turn back’. On top of that, I have a few singles in the making such as one titled ‘Jealousy’ and a few features with RichyRich, Crack City and Gringo to come soon!
What is your songwriting process?
I tend to find a beat or multiple beats and listen to them, I usually hum and mumble some words, sometimes I’ll freestyle, until I get the flow and then I’ll put it into words. I tend to write in 4 bar sections as I found that’s what works best for me.
What do you think is your best song?
I’d definitely have to go for ‘Backstreets’ however, ‘I Know’ is a close second and it was a lot of fun to make.
