We had the chance to catch up with CrazeTheJack for a achat. Here's how it went:
How long have you been rapping?
I have been rapping since the age of 11/12 but much more solidly about 5/6 years ago. I started out with a Zoom Drum Pad, Zoom Multitrack system, Keyboard and Microphone, producing loads of instrumentals and later constructing my own songs with the lyrics I wrote. I always had rhythm because I played the drums at an early age so the timing on beat was very easy to me. I just remember staying in my bedroom for hours on end making tracks sounding similar to Dr Dre’s chord progressions and rapping aggressively over it.
How do you see hip-hop/rap changing in the near future?
I see all different styles of rap but the bones of the genre is very much still there. I see it changing in terms of becoming more popular in the UK like it’s becoming more accepted, such as Urban music is listened to and fashion is worn comfortably. When I was younger you couldn’t really wear that stuff as you were alienated and that’s just how it was. I didn’t give a fuck about the people who made me feel like that, the Hip-Hop culture mattered much more as I felt more accepted and it brought community and I could actually speak out about how I felt.
Do you feel hip hop/ rap has a positive or negative impact on society?
Going back to question 2 and linking it with this I feel yes I brings a huge positive impact on people. The culture that is Hip Hop brings community and creativity amongst people, which leads a lot more people to say their story’s and interact in poetry with their emotions without the sense of judgement. I got into music because it became my therapy, I got into Hip Hop and rapped because it became an outlet to express my feelings and emotions. It also helped me to carry myself when I couldn’t speak to anybody.
What inspires you the most?
I Don’t have something specific that inspires me but knowing that people are not scared to ask for advice, tips or general talks with me inspires me to carry on helping.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I enjoy watching the footy with a beer on the sofa chilling.
What’s your annoying habit?
Being a perfectionist with certain things. Things have got to be completely right my way otherwise I will not happily continue with it. I take charge of situations more than I should.
What would be your superpower?
I'd love the ability to stop time so I can literally have more hours in the day to do what I want haha, also so I can just have an extra hour or 5 sleep without wasting the day.
What's next for you in 2021?
I have a major project I’m working on that could be my biggest work to date, I have also joined the Bard Picasso Family so hopefully I can get stuff out with them, but I’m not revealing too much.
